JIM Davidson has announced the date he will return to Evesham after cancelling a recent gig at the eleventh hour because of the height of the stage.

The comedian will return to the town with his No Further Action on Sunday, March 29 at Evesham Arts Centre.

Davidson will be donating the proceeds of his show to service veterans charity Care after Combat after pulling a gig at The Regal, Evesham last month.

The former Celebrity Big Brother winner was due to play the cinema on Saturday, January 31 but cancelled initially claiming it was because of "technical issues".

But it later emerged the comic had backed out because he felt the stage was too high at the art-deco cinema and would have compromised the show.

Laurence Wiper, manager of the Regal, told the Evesham Journal they had moved on from the incident and were looking forward to welcoming comedian Stephen K Amos on Friday, February 20.

"We have moved on in two respects.

"We have contacted 99 per cent of all the customers due on January 31, except for a few that are on holiday.

"The support we have received has been phenomenal and a real boost to the Regal.

"The performance by Stephen K Amos is confirmation the Regal does work for stand up comedy and music."

No Further Action sees Davidson turn the worst year of their life into a resounding success as he tell the story of his arrest and the nightmare 12 months that followed along with the clearing of his name and winning the heart of the nation all over again.

Tickets, priced £15, will be on sale shortly from Evesham Almonry, Abbey Road, or by calling 01386 446944 and logging on to EveshamArtsCentre.co.uk.
