A COMEDY of manners without the manners will be toddling its way to the Swan Theatre's Studio, Worcester from Tuesday, March 17.

Swan Theatre Amateur Company will perform God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza.

Two pairs of parents have to deal with the fall out after one of the children has knocked a couple of teeth out of the other with a stick in a public park.

Their intention is to meet to discuss the matter in a civilized manner.

The discussions degenerate into irrational arguments about topics such as misogyny, racial prejudice, and homophobia.

Christopher Hampton’s witty translation from the French starts out as a “rancidly funny account of two couples tiptoeing around their mutual dislike”.

"Reza holds the mirror up to bourgeois hypocrisy with the savage indignation of a born satirist.”

The London production at the Gielgud Theatre was widely acclaimed, receiving the Olivier Award for Best New Play of 2009 while the Broadway production won a Tony for Best Play and became the longest running comedy of the 2000s.

The production is directed by Tony Childs.

God of Carnage runs until Saturday, March 21 with shows at 7.45pm.

Tickets, costing £8.50, are available by calling 01905 611427 or from the box office at Huntingdon Hall, Crowngate.
