FILM fans will be able to enjoy a diverse choice of movies at Malvern Theatres thanks to a new partnership with the largest group of independent cinemas in the country.

The theatre will be working with the Independent Cinema Office to deliver their film programme from Thursday, June 18.

It will be helping Nic Lloyd, Malvern Theatre's director, to create a diverse and impressive programme of films for the people of Malvern and beyond.

He said: "We are in a great location in Malvern to grow the diversity of film available to Worcestershire, and that’s why we wanted to work with the Independent Cinema Office.

"They know how to create a programme that’s approachable but highlights the best of cinema from around the world and I’m looking forward to the new energy they’ll bring to the programme."

Jonny Courtney, Independent Cinema Office programmer, said Malvern Theatres was a great venue.

"I’m really glad they’ve chosen the ICO to shape their film programme, alongside the great work they’re doing for all the arts.

"We have a really strong track record bringing films to rural audiences.

"Since we began shaping the programme at Borderlines Film Festival in Hereford, we have helped it become the UK’s largest rural film festival.

"We are sure that there’s an audience for the kind of adventurous films we have had great success with in our other venues across the UK."

The films it plans to bring to Malvern Cinemas in the coming month include A Royal Night Out, a fictionalised account of young royals’ riotous VE Day celebrations and Mr Holmes, starring Ian McKellen, and featuring the ageing detective trying to crack a decades’ old case while battling amnesia.
