A LOOK at 4000 years of keeping secrets by Dr Mark Baldwin will take place at Huntingdon Hall on Saturday, June 27.
For at least 4000 years, codes have been used to provide secrecy for important messages.
In this entertaining survey, Dr Baldwin traces the development of codes and ciphers through the ages, picking out some key developments, and explaining how no new technique that the code-makers invented could defeat the code-breakers for long.
The story is taken as far as the Second World War, ending with the world's most famous cipher machine - Enigma. The evening begins at 8pm and tickets, costing £13.50, are available by calling 01905 611427.
