ENJOY the heatwave with an evening of hot comedy from three hilarious stand up comedians at Mode bar this Friday (July 3).

The venue in Angel Place will be hosting Alfie Moore, Ruth Cockburn and Tony Jameson for an night of rib-tickling entertainment.

Mode Comedy Club is a popular monthly comedy club where guests can book VIP tables which come with a food platter.

First up will be Tony Jameson, who comes from the north-east, and first stepped on stage in September 2008.

In August 2012, after being made redundant as a college lecturer, he made the transition to full time comic.

Having performed all over the country, he has appeared with some of the biggest acts on the circuit and at some of the best comedy clubs the country has to offer.

Ruth Cockburn is a musical comedian who has been writing comedy sketches and plays since she graduated in 2005 from Manchester Metropolitan University School of Theatre.

Performing her comedy plays at numerous festivals including Edinburgh Fringe and Sydney's Short and Sweet Festival, her play Saturday Boy was also nominated for best new writing in Buxtons' Fringe 2008.

In May 2008 she turned her hand to stand up and in that first year she became a Funny Women semi finalist, So You Think You're Funny semi finalist, and came third in Mirth on Monday's new act Competition.

Primarily a musical act, she has also proved her worth at music festivals, having performed at Kendal Calling, Y-Not and The Green Man festival.

Prepare for well timed audience interaction and serial stories that take the audience on a nice little journey.

Headline act Alfie Moore brings with him 18 years service on the beat in the police and brings with him a wealth of hilarious observations.

He has an observational comedic style, which lends itself to witty, and sometimes gritty, anecdotes based on everyday modern policing.

Alfie is also an adept socio-political commentator and weaves this all together with his take on the ‘comedy gold’ of life.

Doors open at 7pm with tickets costing £5 or £10 each for a VIP table which can be reserved on 07826 558750.
