FRESH from celebrating its 20th Anniversary, Richard Alston Dance Company is coming to Malvern.
The company "jumps into its third decade with characteristic panache, and a programme of works bearing the Alston hallmarks of musicality and grace".
Associate Choreographer Martin Lawrance, creator of Madcap and Burning, brings his latest work Stronghold to the Forum Theatre.
A spokesman said: "Made to an intense score by Julia Wolfe, Stronghold sees all ten dancers cutting through the space with gusto.
"Alston’s newest work Mazur is danced to Chopin’s mazurkas, through which the composer expressed his longing for his lost homeland – the mazurkas will be played live onstage by pianist Jason Ridgway.
"Brisk Singing celebrates the music of Jean Phillippe Rameau, genius of the French baroque. Alston has revived this uplifting dance for eight dancers, carried along by the warmth and lightness of spirit in Rameau’s music."
The show comes to Malvern on February 16 and February 17.
