THE JIGSAW Players Theatre Company are currently in rehearsal for their forthcoming production of "Fiddler On The Roof".

The production will take place from Friday, June 10 to Sunday, June 12, at the Studio Theatre of Droitwich High School.

A spokesman said: "This much loved and touching piece with music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick and book by Joseph Stein offers tremendous songs and memorable dance routines.

"The story is set in Imperial Russia in 1905 and is based around Tevye, The Dairyman and his family and his attempts to maintain his Jewish religious and cultural beliefs as outside influences encroach upon the family’s lives. A story which we can see reflected and unfolding around the world today."

The spokesman added: "Jigsaws are proud to present Tam Weir as Tevye, a well known and much respected actor within Worcestershire, Catherine Tabberner, a superb local soprano, will be Tevye’s wife Golde. Bromsgrove's town crier, Kevin Ward, will be Lazar Wolf.

"Together with an outstanding cast of fifty the show promises to provide top class and superb musical theatre. The production will be complimented by an orchestra of talented musicians and led by the Musical Director, Chris Corcoran and directed by Jigsaws’ Director Maggie Bishton."
