AGATHA Christie's "Murder on the Nile" will have a Malvern audience asking "whodunnit?", as they are treated to a thrilling Egyptian journey from clue to clue.

Malvern Theatre Players will perform the much loved play at the Coach House Theatre, Grange Road, from May 9 to May 14.

Performances are at 7.30 each evening with a matinee at 2.30pm on May 14.

A spokesman said: "Agatha Christie adapted one of her favourite novels, Death on the Nile, for the stage, calling it 'Murder on the Nile'.

"A 1930’s Christie classic 'whodunit', the plot involves a clergyman, a young couple on their honeymoon and a bevy of memorable characters aboard a paddle steamer cruising down the Nile."

The spokesman added: "On the steamer “Lotus”, we meet Simon Mostyn who has recently married Kay, a rich heiress, having thrown over his former lover Jacqueline. Among the other passengers are Canon Pennefather, Kay's guardian, and Jacqueline, who has been dogging the couple’s footsteps all through the honeymoon. During the voyage, Jacqueline works herself into a state of hysteria and shoots at Simon, wounding him in the knee. A few moments later Kay is found shot in her bunk, and then there is another murder.

"Everyone becomes a suspect – and a detective."
