AN all-female cast is being sought for a play that deals with the problems of people with agoraphobia, which is a fear of open and pubic spaces.

The Malvern Theatre Players production, "Bazaar and Rummage" will be performed at the Coach House venue in Malvern on September 12 to September 17, with rehearsals starting in early June.

A spokesman said: It is not a usual subject for a play you might think, but Sue Townsend, of Adrian Mole fame, wrote a play on just this subject and the MTP are bringing it to The Coach House Theatre in September.

"Bazaar and Rummage follows the efforts of a group of agoraphobic women trying to overcome their fears. Led by volunteer social workers Gwenda and Fliss, the women meet up to run a rummage sale. Sorting through the rummage, individual fears and background stories erupt with comedy, pathos and gritty reality, issues as relevant today as when the play was written in the 1980's."

The spokesman added: "There are excellent character parts for six females, and Malvern Theatre Players will hold open auditions at The Coach House Theatre, Grange Road, Malvern, on Tuesday May 24 and Thursday May 26 at 7.30 pm.
