VAMOS Theatre’s tour van fundraising campaign has received a brilliant boost
The Worcester-based Vamos Theatre, nationally and internationally known for its mask-based performances, has received two anonymous donations of £1000 each, giving
a big boost to the campaign to replace their ageing tour van.
A spokesman said: "As part of marking the company’s tenth birthday, Vamos aims to raise £4000, twenty per cent of the cost of a replacement van.
"The anonymous donations have added to the
amazing support the company has seen since the Worcester News publicised the
campaign, with the total currently standing at around £3500."
The spokesman added: "The new van can’t come a moment too soon; last Sunday the van broke down on the way back from a performance in York, and had to be towed back to base at
Worcester Arts Workshop."
Rachael Savage, Artistic Director of Vamos said: “We certainly need to get a new van as soon as we can as we don’t know how long 'Verity'
will keep going, and we’ve a lot of touring over the next year; we’re getting so close
to our total, we just need a final push.”
Otherwise, Vamos members could find themselves pushing the old van instead.
