MR Selfridge and Downton Abbey style will be on display this summer, thanks to the "Dressed for Drama Costume Exhibition" at Worcester Cathedral

The exhibition of showbiz period glamour will take place in the Chapter House and will be exclusive to the cathedral.

A spokesman said: "It has been organised by a small in-house team with the expert help of exhibition curator, Debbie Greenwell.

"Debbie, who has organised several successful costume exhibitions elsewhere, has been delighted to be working with the cathedral once again."

The spokesman added: "Thirty five period costumes have been hired from two London costumiers, some of which have never been on public display before, which is a real coup for us."

Operational manager, Susan MacLeod, added: "We are really excited to be getting some fantastic costumes that have been worn by stars in programmes and films that have so recently been on our screens, such as Poldark and Benedict Cumberbatch’s Richard III outfit from the BBC Shakespeare production, The Hollow Crown.

"We are also delighted to have Mark Rylance’s Thomas Cromwell costume from the Bafta Award winning, Wolf Hall and Eddie Redmayne’s dresses from the Oscar nominated film, The Danish Girl."

Debbie Greenwell said: "There are some exquisite dresses that are to die for, if only we were allowed to try them on. We also think visitors will be thrilled to see some of the gorgeous frocks from Downton Abbey."

The exhibition from August 1 to August 29 and will be open between 10am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday, and from 11am to 4pm on Sundays.
