THIS seems to be a summer for Giants but The BFG is not the only giant in town.

If you want to meet "The Smartest Giant in Town", get yourself along to the Bishop's Wood Centre, Crossway Green, Stourport, on August 11, from 6.30pm.

A spokesman said: "Folksy's musical adaptation of Julia Donaldson's wonderful book, The Smartest Giant in Town, will be filled with puppetry, colourful characters and songs that will have you clapping and singing along."

The spokesman added: "George was very happy being the scruffiest giant in town. But one day, when he sees a shop stocking giant-size clothes, he decides it's time to update his image. With smart clothes, George is a new man. However, as he journeys home, he meets various animals who desperately need his help. George's kind heart and generosity take him on an adventure where he discovers that it's not how you look that's important but how you feel."

Secretary of the Friends of Bishops Wood, John Rhymer said: “Folksy Theatre have given us some wonderful outdoor performances of Shakespeare’s plays including “As You Like It” this summer. These have always been superbly entertaining with live music and lots of interaction with the audiences and their performance of “Wind in the Willows” last summer was absolutely loved by children and adults alike.

"Everyone is welcome to bring picnics, chairs and blankets and enjoy a magical summer evening in the beautiful grounds of Bishops Wood."
