WILL a Shakespeare production in Worcester Cathedral be enough to make a medieval monarch turn in his grave?

The Worcester Repertory Company is gearing up to produce a once in a lifetime production of William Shakespeare’s King John this October.

And the play will be performed on the 800th anniversary of infamous monarch’s death, around the king's tomb in Worcester Cathedral.

Production’s director, Chris Jaeger, said: "Whilst there are many celebrations planned across the country to commemorate the monarch who was forced to sign the Magna Carta, ours is the only one he will attend.”

The production will be performed by the Worcester Repertory Company and will feature professional actors from all over the UK.

But there are two roles that the Rep is now looking to cast from local talent.

The roles of Arthur, King John’s nephew, and Henry, King John’s son, are being opened up to young local talent with auditions being held on August 24 at the Swan Theatre, Worcester.

The Rep is looking for four actors who can play boys between the ages of 11 to 13 and have strong voice skills and acting ability.

The dates of the rehearsal week for the production starts on October 10 and the performance week begins on October 18.

Anybody interested in auditioning for the roles must apply to bhumphrey@worcester-rep.co.uk with a CV and photograph and be available for auditions on August 24.
