A MODERN day fairytale, the award-winning comedy, "The Rise and Fall of Little Voice", will entertain a Chipping Norton audience before it moves on to a London run.

Jim Cartwright's Olivier award-winning drama comes to The Theatre Chipping Norton, this autumn, before transferring to the Greenwich Theatre.

A spokesman said: "A painfully shy northern lass, Little Voice, escapes her mundane life by hiding herself away obsessively listening to her late father’s record collection, secretly perfecting her astonishing talent of impersonating iconic vocal legends of the past.

"Little Voice faultlessly learns to mimic some of the greatest female divas of all time including Billy Holiday, Judy Garland, Shirley Bassey, Lulu, Cilla Black and Marilyn Monroe. But her insular world soon spirals out of control when her secret talent is discovered and Little Voice is catapulted uncontrollably into the spotlight that terrifies her so much."

The show is directed by the Irish Director, Bronagh Lagan and features an central performance from actor, singer and songwriter, Sarah Moss, previously seen in Noises Off at The Old Vic.

The spokesman said: "Sarah is supported by a top notch cast in this exciting first co-production between The Theatre Chipping Norton and the Greenwich Theatre. Packed with brilliant comic characters and infused with sensational singing and knockout songs, this is a heart-warming production which mixes northern grit with Hollywood glamour. It is Chipping Norton's biggest co-pro show to date."

The Rise and Fall of Little Voice opens for a limited run from Wednesday September 14 to Saturday September 24 at The Theatre Chipping Norton before transferring to Greenwich Theatre London on Wednesday September 28th September until Sunday October 9.
