RETIRED ostrich jockey, comedian Bernie Clifton didn't get the bird when he was asked to host a talent show in Redditch.
In fact he's delighted, and will draw on personal experience, following his recent appearance on the television show, The Voice UK, where he failed to progress beyond the blind auditions.
Bernie, who was nationally famous for apparently riding his puppet ostrich in the 1970s and 1980s, will compere the "Find a Star and Win a Car" talent competition at the Palace Theatre, Alcester Street, on Saturday September 17, from 7.30pm.
Bernie said: "Following my ‘Voice’ experience this year, Lakeside Autos asked me if I would host a talent show they are sponsoring. They’ve auditioned sixteen acts, mainly local, and the local Ultraviolet Dance Academy will appear with yours truly, as compere."
The overall winner will win a car.
Bernie added: "I'm looking forward to returning to the beautiful Palace Theatre. It's seven years since I did a panto there."
