A DANCE show in Worcester will be out of this world, thanks in part to talented young and local performers.

Two dance performances, "Ulysses Unbound" and "The Stacked Deck" will come to The Swan Theatre, Worcester on Thursday September 29 from 7.30pm.

A spokesman said: "In ‘Ulysses Unbound’, we follow the journey of the last astronaut who has left a dying earth for a new home. In a thrilling cascade of contemporary ballet dance, he witnesses the birth of a new star and finds himself on an alien world, populated by very alien creatures.

"The Stacked Deck is a contrasting work and shows life as a harsh game that can be difficult to win with the hand you’re dealt."

Local young dancers who have been taking part in the inaugural year of the UK-wide ‘Young Choreographers Celebration’, have been chosen to dance in a curtain raiser performance prior, to Chantry Dance Company’s production of ‘Ulysses Unbound' and 'The Stacked Deck’.

This year is the launch year for Chantry Dance Company’s ‘Young Choreographers Celebration’. The event, which takes place in cities across the UK, has seen young dance students from nominated schools and universities take part in a choreography competition. The competition is adjudicated by professional choreographers from Chantry Dance Company, all of whom have choreographed in London’s West End, at Sadler’s Wells and the Royal Opera House.

The young dancers taking part have been asked to create a piece of choreography based on ‘The Universe’ or ‘Card Games’ to tie in with the themes of Chantry Dance Company’s 2016 tour programme.

The spokesman added: "Chantry’s tour is performed by a highly skilled cast, and provides a great evening of entertainment."
