IF you really must have your Gilbert without Sullivan, get yourself along to St George's Church in Barbourne, for an evening with The Foundry Group.

A spokesman said: "For the first time and on the 80th anniversary of his birth, a wonderfully entertaining adaptation of three of the funniest tales and two of the best-loved 'Bab Ballads' by the master of 'Topsy-Turvydom' Sir W. S. Gilbert, will be performed.

"Now immortalised for his partnership with composer Sir Arthur Sullivan, Gilbert was, in his own right, a renowned playwright and comic writer and a master of wildly funny 'nonsense' verse."

The spokesman added: "This is the perfect night out for 'Savoyards' and a great introduction to England's wittiest theatrical knight."

The date for the diary is Saturday, October 29, from 7.30pm. Door open at 7pm.
