CULTURAL exchange will be celebrated at a Worcestershire venue this autumn, with a show called "Indian October".

Classical Indian singer, Kathak and Bollywood dancer Awantika Dubey and her brother Akash are travelling from their home town of Khajurahao, North India, to The Fold Cafe at Bransford.

A spokesman said: "On Friday October 14 and October 28, Awantika and Akash will be delighting audiences with performances of Indian Raga, dance and movement, at The Fold.

"Between October 20th and October 27, there will also be a series of workshops, where Awantika will guide participants through an introduction to Indian Raga, Kathak or Bollywood dance."

The spokeman added: "On October 27, Akash will offer a master class in playing the tabla."

Will Tooby, director of The Fold, who studies Indian singing and raga, was introduced to Awantika as a teacher in 2012, and regularly travels to India to study with her.

He said:"On my last visit I was so inspired by the brother and sister’s virtuosity that I decided to invite them both back home to Bransford.”

All events are being offered on a simple donation basis. with the intention of covering flight costs and room booking fees.
