YOUNG performers at a Worcester dance school are jumping for joy, having qualified for the British Street Dance Championships at Blackpool.

Founded three years ago, Beat Breakerz offers professional street dance training for children of all abilities, aged from three to 18, in Worcester.

And the training was put to good use recently during various competitions in the Midlands.

The success locally has been so great, the team now has Blackpool at Easter to look forward to.

Amie Harris, dance school principal said: “We have worked and trained extremely hard to achieve in every Midland competition and we have now earned the reward to compete at the highest level. Some of the competitions we have danced in we have been up against the oldest age in that category, the majority of my children being younger, which is a great achievement.

“We are a dedicated team of thirteen dancers, aged from seven to 15. I’d defiantly say we are a close dance family; the bond we have as a team is so strong and this really speaks volumes for the success of my squad.”

The British Street Dance Championships is one of the UK's biggest street dance events with over 2000 attendees set to pack out the Blackpool Tower, over the Easter weekend.

The team from Worcester will compete in teams, solos, duos and quads, and the event will be staged over two days.

Amie said: “We have been placed first in our last open competition, which is the highest category at the Midlands event with the British Dance Organisation, winning a whopping 21 trophies, which is an amazing achievement.

“If we were to count the amount of trophies won from the beginning to now we would be hitting the 100 mark. My children are so talented and worked so hard and professionally for their age, I want to give them the recognition they need; not many children have the opportunities we have had now and we are so grateful for the opportunity, yet feel it is so truly deserved.

“As the months have progressed we have been more popular for the entertainment industry. Credits include featuring at Worcestershire's biggest Dance event 'Strictly Worcestershire' 2016. We have also been proud performers for the BBL Basket Ball events held at the University of Worcester. We have also performed for local businesses and charities in and around Worcester.”

Amie added: “We have helped and performed for the community which I believe has helped us develop as performers and given us the confidence to perform in front of huge crowds.”
