A spokesman said: "An exciting and innovative performance, 'Giants on the Hill' is designed specifically for rural touring venues, with the show underpinned by a specially designed 'man-powered' soundscape.

"In keeping with the subject matter, we are is striving for the show to have a carbon neutral footprint, and is exploring ways for the performance to function 'off grid' with the team generating onstage pedal power energy for the show."

The spokesman added: "This new play set against the backdrop of the energy crisis and exploring its political and personal impact on a rural community. Bright acting, the clever use of live sound effects and soundscapes, and onstage pedal power electricity generation, underpin an unusually inventive show. 'Giants on the Hill' explores the debate about wind turbines and the urgent need to find sustainable energy sources."

Centre Manager, Gill Frankling added, “Bishops Wood Centre is the ideal venue for this play. Our building was purpose designed to be energy efficient and we have our own wind turbine and solar panels. It will be interesting for our audience to explore whether wind turbines: are a valuable and sustainable way to shift how we provide our energy, or are they a financial liability and blight on our landscapes?

"The play is suitable for adults and children aged 10 years upwards so we hope that families and groups from schools will come along as well as adults who enjoy drama and or who are interested in these important current issues."

The date for the diary is Thursday, November 24, from 7.30pm.
