YOU'RE guaranteed to have a ball at this year’s Swan Theatre pantomime, because Cinderella is coming to town.
Oh she it is.
A spokesman said: "The Swan Theatre’s annual professional pantomime returns to delight audiences young and old with the Worcester Repertory Company’s sparkling production of the most popular pantomime of them all – Cinderella.
"Since the first real pantomime version of Cinderella opened at Covent Garden back in 1820, then entitled Harlequin and Cinderella or The Little Glass Slipper, Cinderella has become one of the best-loved and most performed pantomimes of all time."
The spokesman added: "The magical tale of the downtrodden young girl, beautiful both inside and out but imprisoned by her wicked stepmother, who finds salvation in kindness and ultimately her happy ever after, has captured the hearts of generation after generation."
And this year the Swan Theatre Worcester is the place to be to see the girl in rags transformed into the belle of the ball, and be swept off her feet by her Prince Charming.
The spokesman added: "Worcestershire’s favourite Panto Dame, Ben Humphrey returns as Ginny the Fairy Godmother, and Lucy-Jane Quinlan makes her Worcester Rep debut as Cinders herself, having trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, and having since starred in numerous pantomimes, musicals, films and theatre up and down the country.
"Boasting dazzling costumes, stunning sets and the most spectacular song and dance numbers in the fairy-tale kingdom, Cinderella is the perfect Christmas treat for the whole family."
Cinderella comes to the Swan from Monday December 5 to Sunday January 8.
