THERE will be live performance and a film screening to mark World AIDS Day at the Artrix in Bromsgrove.

One of the highlights will be a screening of the film "Philadelphia", described as "the first mainstream film to recognise HIV and AIDS".

And performances by emerging artists will be "exploring issues of sexual health and healthy relationships for young people".

A spokesman said: "The emerging artists are members of Outspoken, Artrix’s new resident performance company.

"Get It On is a fusion of live performance, music and digital technology and was commissioned by Umbrella sexual health services and also supported by Birmingham City University and Arts Council England.

"The piece, which was performed to capacity crowds in Birmingham at ACE Space last week, is only open to those aged thirteen or over. Audiences can interact with specific sections of the performance using their smartphones."

Philadelphia stars Tom Hanks as a man with AIDS who is fired by his law firm because of his condition and who hires a homophobic lawyer to represent him in his wrongful dismissal case.

There will be a performance of Get It On on Wednesday November 30 at 7pm.

Philadelphia will be screened on Thursday December 1 at 7.30 pm. Tickets and further details on 01527 577330 or on www.artrix.co.uk
