ACTORS of all ages are sought for a production of Street Child – the story of an orphaned boy in Victorian London, to be performed at The Coach House Theatre in Malvern.

Based on a true story, the play tells of Jim Jarvis, a boy in Victorian London who is left on the streets when his mother dies.

Rounded up and taken to the workhouse, Jim soon escapes, finds friends like himself and struggles to survive.

Homeless, moving from job to job, exploited, and nearly starving, he is found and looked after by Doctor Barnardo who is starting a school for ragged street children.

The Malvern Theatre Players are holding open auditions for this musical play on Wednesday January 18 at 7pm and Sunday January 22 at 3pm in the Coach House venue.

A spokesman said: "There are roles for adults and for youngsters from nine to 17.

"The lead requires a lad between 9 and 14 to play a resourceful, cheeky, energetic young cockney."

Street Child will be performed at The Coach House from Monday 15 to Saturday 21 May 2017.
