STARS of the popular CBeebies TV show are set to entertain a Worcestershire audience with a Treasure Island romp at The Artrix, in Bromsgrove.

Children’s TV stars, Callum Donnelly and Robin Hatcher will hit the headlines again, with Callum playing Long John Silver, "and four other random pirates", and Robin set to play Captain Jim Hawkins and the cheese-loving Ben Gunn.

And they think Treasure Island will be a magical show.

Callum said: "There is such a unique atmosphere in the world of theatre, a kind of unity and shared excitement between audience members despite most of them being complete strangers. Add into the mix that we love performing live, we love performing comedy, and we have an excellent script full of silliness, songs and slapstick, and you have the makings of a fantastically funny and festive frolic on the high seas."

It might not be all plain sailing though.

Robin admits to "an annoying knack of running to the toilet at the last possible moment before the show starts", but he added: "It's better than the possible alternative if I don't run to the loo last minute!"

A spokesman for the Artrix added, quickly: "The audience will be taken on an amazing and memorable trip into a world of pirates, treasure and mermaids - as one of the nation’s favourite children’s novels is brought to life with a lively, and very child friendly, modern twist.

"See our intrepid trio bring to life Jim Hawkins, Old Ben Gunn, Billy Bones, Sneaky Beaky the pirates parrot, mythical creatures and of course Long John Silver - with action and adventure aplenty on the horizon."

The spokesman added: "This laugh a minute show is jam-packed with shanty’s, cheering, booing, puppets, lots of colourful costumes, amazing sets, slapstick comedy and maybe even a monkey or two."

The date for the diary is February 23.
