VISUALIZE, a new exhibition of young people’s 2d artwork, is now on display at the Number 8 Arts Centre in Pershore.

This exhibition showcases the finalists of Wychavon District Council’s new art competition Visualize – a spin-off of the Council’s successful W Factor – for which young artists in Wychavon aged 11-18 years were asked to consider how they would depict our country through the visual arts.

A spokesman said: "There is a variety of wonderful artwork on display from collage and photography to watercolours and caricature, and the exhibition runs until January 25.

"There were two winners in the competition. Lily Spiers from Blackminster Middle School won the 11-13s category with her depiction of an English village, and Eleanor Ritchie from Prince Henry’s High School won the 14-18s category with a collage about fairy tales."

Jenny Davis, the Arts Development Officer at Wychavon District Council, said: “I’m delighted that we had so many wonderful entries; it was especially good considering the competition is in its first year. We really do have a wealth of talent in Wychavon and I’m happy that we are able to showcase this at the prestigious Number 8 Arts Centre in Pershore.

"It is hoped that the competition will return later this year, so all young artists should keep an eye out for details."

Alternatively young artists can go on a mailing list so that they can be contacted with competition details when they are announced.
