A MUM from Ombersley, near Droitwich, will run the Worcester City 10K tomorrow (Sunday) - less than a year after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

Corinna Parsons, 36, will join thousands of other runners at the Worcester City 10K tomorrow (Sunday).

She is running the race in aid of the Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven and has already raised a tremendous £1,130.

The mum-of-two was diagnosed with breast cancer last November, and has since undergone chemotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy before finishing treatment in July this year.

She said: "I'm raising money for the breast unit in Worcester which opened while I was having treatment.

"Once the unit had opened, I started to go there. It does really make a difference. It is all done quickly and without fuss and the least amount of upset possible.

"It is just a much nicer environment to go through such a horrible experience."

She continued to explain that her surgery was successful and she is now on hormone therapy.

The Haven unit opened earlier this year to provide a dedicated building where patients can see specialist staff, be examined, receive a diagnosis and, if found to have breast cancer, hear about their treatment options.
