LIGHTS will be lit by bereaved families in memory of their loved ones at a special service held by St Richard’s Hospice.

Guests are invited to Pershore Abbey at 2.15pm tomorrow (Wednesday) for the Lights of Love service, where they can dedicate a light to a friend or relative.

Students from Pershore Abbey Park School will sing and there will be refreshments available.

Alison Parkes, senior fundraiser at St Richard’s, said: “These services are deeply appreciated by the hundreds of people who attend - many of whom are the families and friends of people who are, or who have been, cared for by St Richard’s.

“These community gatherings bring great comfort and support through lighting a candle and taking time to reflect.”

The names of loved ones will be displayed on boards around the tree in St Andrew’s Spire, Worcester, and in Books of Thanksgiving placed in Pershore Abbey, Droitwich Library, Worcester Cathedral and Great Malvern Priory during December.

So far, hundreds of names have been dedicatred and more than £34,000 has been raised for the hospice. To donate visit strichards.org.uk/lightsoflove or call 01905 763963.
