A NUMBER of groups in Eckington are set to benefit from more than £12,000.

The money has come from Wychavon District Council’s New Homes Bonus fund.

The village hall, recreational centre, football teams, cricket club, Scouts, WI and Thursday Club were all among the groups which asked for part of the funding and each group will now be able to put the cash towards a project.

Tracy Perkins, partnership officer at Wychavon, said: “We are confident that the funding will help maintain village traditions and engender community spirit.”

George Glaze, vice-chairman of Eckington Parish Council, said: “As a small village we were anxious to maximise any benefits.”
