THE latest battle in the war on flooding in Worcester is continuing with a mapping exercise by the city's action group.

The Worcester News has received several survey forms reporting people's experiences of flooding. They will be used to help tackle the problem.

In July this year a heavy rainstorm brought chaos to the city, deluging Blackpole Road and dozens of homes and businesses.

The flooding forms have been designed by Worcester Flash Flood Action Group, which includes councillors, Government Agency officers, and representatives from the emergency services.

Residents are asked to describe where, when and what effect the July deluge had on them. Their stories will be used to build up a picture of the areas worst affected by the floods.

Robert Moreland, head of policy and review at Worcester City Council, urged people to carry on filling in the surveys and returning them. He said: "We are very pleased with the response so far, and hope it continues."

Fill in the survey online on the Worcester News website at www.worcesternews.co.uk All information provided will be treated in confidence but details will be made available to statutory agencies to see what remedial measures can be introduced to reduce the risk of flash flooding.
