A JURY has returned guilty verdicts on a charge of sexual assault and two of sexual activity against a woman who denied sex offences against boys.

They were undecided on three other charges against Amanda Wheeler, aged 31, of Goodrest Walk, Rainbow Hill, Worcester.

Her trial was halted yesterday because the jury was unable to go to the lavatory or wash their hands.

The water supply to the Shire Hall, where Worcester Crown Court sits, suddenly went off yesterday afternoon and staff said it would be four hours before an engineer arrived.

Judge Patrick Thomas adjourned the trial.

The jury was into the second day of deliberation when he called them back into court to tell them that water into the building had “ceased to flow”.

The court no longer had a maintenance man and was reliant on contracts. He felt it was unfair that a panel of 12 people, working hard, should have to endure insanitary conditions.

Wheeler claims all the allegations, one of sexual assault and five of sexual activity with children, were made up by the boys called to give evidence.

The prosecution maintained that she had acted inappropriately while drunk at the house party of a friend.

The jury will return today.
