BRAVE volunteers have been hot-footing it across smoking coals to raise cash for a children’s charity.

The firewalk took place in the car park of the Fusion Brasserie restaurant at Stoulton village between Worcester and Pershore.

The volunteers were given a two-hour training course, before being unleashed on the 20ft bed of red hot coals.

In all they raised £3,000 for Children Today which gives out grants to young people under the age of 25 to buy adapted wheelchairs, trikes, and educational toys.

While training, they enjoyed cooking courtesy of the award-winning owner chef Felice Tocchini, and entertainment including live music by Louella and magic by David Taylor.

One brave firewalker was Pete Grinnall, co-owner of Complete Spas, who said afterwards: “It was one of the most exhilarating experiences I have ever known, very well run and at no time did I feel in danger.

“I’m glad that we raised so much money in the current climate and on a wet Sunday evening what could be better.

“It beats sitting at home and watching the X Factor.”

All those involved gave their time for free.
