Thousands of students descend on shopping centre

THOUSANDS of excited students surged through the doors of Worcester’s CrownGate shopping centre for its first ever students-only event.

Queues of students filled Angel Place in anticipation of the event, which opened with a performance from the University of Worcester’s dance school.

More than 2,000 students registered for the event, receiving a free goody bag and access to offers and competitions on the night, and the centre’s footfall counters topped 6,000 as students took advantage of one-off discounts and giveaways.

The event was the culmination of months of planning, involving partners across the city, including the university and Worcester College of Technology, and CrownGate centre manager Erica Burlace said she was absolutely thrilled with its success.

She said: “To see the centre filled with so many enthusiastic students was a fantastic feeling, and we’ve had tremendous feedback from our retailers and event partners.”

I thought they could barely find money for food, given all the debt and tuition fees etc....

Don't believe everything you read in the paper MTV. There is the "political" version and the "reality" version. Crowngate was the reality, politically they are all penniless and dependant on handouts.

They were there to capitalise on the exclusive discounts offered! If they really had that much money, they wouldn't queue scrabble and fight to get said discounts would they?? I certainly wouldn't, I earn money so that I can avoid these sorts of situations that make one feel like cattle.
