Mike scales the heights for charity

AN adventurous Droitwich man has conquered Africa’s highest mountain to raise £4,500 for charity.

Mike Russell, of Dovecote Road, took on the gruelling challenge climbing the snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro.

He scaled the Tanzanian mountain in aid of Make-A-Wish Foundation UK, completing his feat with a final nine-hour summit push through 65mph winds and minus 20C temperatures.

Mr Russell, who works at Bromsgrove’s Waste Management Solutions, said: “I want to say a big thank you to all those who have offered support, as well as donating to my chosen charity.

"You will be pleased to know that I finally reached the top after a gruelling nine-hour summit climb. I am totally exhausted, but elated.”
