AN elderly woman who was left black and blue after falling on a raised piece of pavement has called for something to be done before someone else gets hurt.
Mavis Senter was left struggling to walk and embarrassed to leave the house after the fall near to her home.
The pensioner, of Columbia Drive, Lower Wick, Worcester, had to spend the night in hospital and was given a brain scan and body X-ray to ensure she had not broken any bones.
She says something needs to be done by the council to repair the pavement on the corner of Winnipeg Close and Vancouver Close.
She said: “I was coming back from shopping when my foot got stuck in the pavement. I was bruised black and blue. I still have a lump on my forehead. I bumped my knees. I did struggle to walk for a while afterwards.
“I was in hospital for a day-and-a-half.
“I have hardly been out since. I felt a bit embarrassed but I do feel the injustice of it all. The path seems to have lifted itself up. It needs attention that this is happening. I don’t want this to happen to other people.”
Jon Fraser, Worcestershire County Council’s Highways manager, said: “This footway has been routinely inspected, and has been recommended for resurfacing when funds allow. Where defects are pot-entially hazardous these are dealt with as a high priority.”
