THE Queen has written to tourism officers in Worcester thanking its citizens for the warm welcome they gave her and the Duke of Edinburgh at the summer’s royal visit.

Tourism development officer Victoria Carmen was sent the response from Balmoral Castle after writing to the Queen, enclosing the latest edition of the Visit Worcestershire magazine.

The royal letter said: “The Queen was pleased to come to Worcester and to perform the opening of the Hive and I think you would like to know that Her Majesty was very touched by the warm welcome she received.”

Destination Worcestershire manager Simon Tipple said: “We were delighted to receive this response from the Queen.

The royal visit raised awareness of the Hive, which has received more than 180,000 visitors since opening in July.

“Worcestershire is an inspiring county with a wide range of attractions and we are proud to promote them here at Destination Worcestershire.”
