THE frontman of an internationally acclaimed band brings his solo world tour to the Faithful City this weekend.
Mike Peters, who is the lead singer and songwriter of Welsh outfit The Alarm, will be at the Marr’s Bar, in Pierpont Street, on Saturday, November 17 as part of his Red Poppy Tour, marking 30 years of the group’s distinctive emblem.
Their exploding Red Poppy made its iconic debut on the band’s Marching On single, which was released in 1982, and has featured in some shape or form on every Alarm release since.
Peters formed The Alarm in 1981, with the band becoming successful soon after with classic singles such as Sixty Eight Guns and Rain In The Summertime, before building a reputation for all-out shows based on their thoughtful and challenging music.
They are currently preparing for the release of a brand new record, Vinyl – The Official Soundtrack Album, that is due out next year.
The long-running tour began with an Independence Day Spirit Of ’76 concert in New York on July 4, and support on the night comes from American singer-songwriter Joe Silva.
Tickets are £12.50 in advance or £15 on the door.
