A MAN had to be flown to Worcestershire Royal Hospital after breaking his leg during a game of football.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Pitchcroft Racecourse in Worcester at 2.41pm on Saturday to reports of a man with a leg injury.
The Saturday Division Two Worcester League match between Worcester Falcons and Sylla was abandoned in the 20th minute when Sylla’s Darren Faulkner broke his tibia and fibula in a collision.
Mr Faulkner, aged 41, who is also the club secretary, had his leg put in a splint by paramedics and was given pain relief before being taken to hospital where he had a plate fitted in his leg.
League secretary Tim Phillips said the game, which was locked at 1-1 at the time, will be replayed.
