YOUNG bookworms in Warndon have been rewarded after completing a challenge to read six books over the course of the summer holidays.
This year’s annual summer reading challenge, which is run through Warndon Library, had a Story Lab theme and young readers also had to collect stickers and other incentives along the way.
A total of 110 youngsters enthusiastically completed the challenge and were rewarded at a special medal ceremony where they were presented with a certificate and a gold medal by Warndon city councillor Alan Amos.
Three young volunteers helped with the event throughout the holidays, volunteering a total of 35 hours between them.
Coun Amos said: “This is the third year I have presented these awards and certificates to children engaged in a worthwhile activity.
“It is heartening that every year the number of children participating in this competition gets bigger.”
