A DROITWICH charity that was petrol-bombed this summer has moved back into its offices.

Protective Behaviours UK was attacked overnight on June 25 and it has taken the company just over three months to get back into its offices with the support of the local community.

The personal safety training charity, based in Charles Henry House, Worcester Road, held its first training course since the attack last week.

Maria Huffer, chief executive of the charity, said it could not have got back on its feet without the help of the community.

“We just about managed to get all the rooms set up to run the course last week,” she said. “We did well to get it set up organised to run it here.

“We had people from all over the UK attending. We were really pleased to have been able to run it.”

The charity is also in the last few days of organising a conference advising people from around the country what they offer.

Ms Huffer said: “The day we were attacked was the day we were due to launch the conference. It was an incredible shock to us and the people around here.”

During the time it has taken to get the offices up and running Protective Behaviours UK temporarily relocated to an office above, loaned by Severn Valley Home Improvements, but the smoke and fire damage left them without office essentials such as stationery, cardboard boxes and electrical items.

But people and businesses in the local community stepped up and helped the charity out.

“We have had a lot of contributions in kind rather than money,” said Ms Huffer. “We had a lot in terms of equipment, which was very valuable.”

West Mercia Police said a man in his 30s had been charged with criminal damage on August 4.

Three men who were arrested in connection with the incident at the time were released without charge.

Protective Behaviours UK will be holding an open day on December 4 to thank everyone who helped them.
