ANYONE interested in restoring Droitwich canals to their former glory can attend a meeting and find out how to help.

The meeting, which will take place at Droitwich Community Centre in Heritage Way on Thursday, November 9, will explain to people how they can become volunteers and what kind of work they could do. Current volunteers will be on hand to talk about what has been achieved so far.

There will also be an update on the restoration plans given by British Waterways project manager James Thompson.

Margaret Rowley, chairman of the Droitwich Canals Trust, said: "Community involvement with the canal restoration project is vital to its success. There are many tasks already being carried out by volunteers, from practical maintenance work such as towpath mowing, litter picking and hedge trimming to crewing our trip boat and fund-raising. We need more people to come along and get involved."

The meeting starts at 7.30pm. Refreshments will be provided. For information call Ivor Caplan on 07778 685764 or Margaret Rowley on 01905 345307.
