UPDATE 3.30pm - The road has now partially reopened, with a single lane open to traffic and police on the scene.

A CRASH on the A46 at Ashton-under-Hill near Evesham left the road closed for over an hour after the air ambulance was called in.

A lorry, and two cars tangled on the busy main road near the junction with Station Road at about 1.30pm on Monday, November 19.

All emergency services were rushed to the scene to find two walking wounded, one person with a nose injury and another with a chest injury.

The Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham base is understood to have airlifted one casualty to Cheltenham Hospital, while an ambulance conveyed another injured person by road.

The road was closed until 2.30pm when one lane was reopened, although police remain on the scene aiding traffic flow.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We dealt with two patients in total, and both had gotten out of their vehicles by the time we had arrived.

"One had a nose injury and theother had a chest injury, neither of which are believed to be serious.

"An ambulance officer, the Midlands Air Ambulance, and one ambulance from neighbouring Great Western Ambulance Service attended."

A Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said: "One fire engine from Broadway and another from Evesham attended, and our job was to make the vehicles safe.

"One lane was reopened and the other remains closed.

"The incident is now in the hands of the police."

A West Mercia Police spokesman said: "A Blue Scania, and two Audi A4s, one blue and one black were involved.

"We attended alongside other emergency services.

"The road was partially cleared, and fully reopened just after 3.30pm."
