  • "The trouble is, much like Birmingham's Christmas market, the one here in Worcester is the same every year. The same stalls selling the same things, the same visitors from Kleve, the same welcome, the same speeches, the same carousel in the Cornmarket, the same women selling the same mulled wine outside the Guildhall... Once you've been a couple of times you don't want to go again."

PEOPLE from across the country will visit Worcester this weekend for the city’s famous Victorian Fayre, which begins tomorrow at 4pm.

Despite the recent flooding, plans for this year’s Christmas fayre – celebrating its 20th anniversary – have not been affected and all of the main access roads to the city centre remain open.

Hundreds of stalls will fill the historic streets of the city centre, with many stallholders expected to dress in traditional dress as 19th century ladies, gents, urchins and chimney sweeps.

Each of the stalls will fill Worcester with the colours, sounds and smells of Christmas, selling a range of items including food, drink, festive gifts, decorations and much more.

As well as the stalls, shops in the city centre will also be open for trade.

The fayre runs until Sunday, December 2.
