A WORCESTER sandwich shop which got just one out of five stars for hygiene is celebrating after getting a better rating.

The Sandwich Shop, St John’s, now has three stars, which is regarded as 'satisfactory'.

An inspection took place yesterday after the premises featured on the front page of the Worcester News.

Keith Bowley, who runs the shop, contacted the city council’s food hygiene safety team after seeing the report.

He was adamant the takeaway has made improvements since the last rating, and was proved right.

It leaves eight premises on a rating of just one star, out of 419 in the city.
