Signpost campaign backing pays off for firm

VICTORY: Peter Luff and Linda Lowe with the new signage
A BUSINESS is celebrating after winning an eight-year battle to get a signpost directing customers to its site.
Vale Pianos, which is based about a mile off the A44 near Throckmorton, has been campaigning to get official signage since 2004 and had faced prosecution after putting out home-made signs on council land.
It has now been given a yellow sign for 12 months to see if this helps its plight.
Linda Lowe, who owns the shop, said: “We are all delighted after eight years of our signs coming and going that a solution has been found. The sign will be invaluable and give great reassurance to our many customers who travel to us from all over the country.
“I was really pleased with the massive support.
“We would like to thank Kieran Hemstock of Worc-estershire County Council and Peter Luff MP.”
Mid-Worcestershire MP Peter Luff, who backed the firm throughout its battle, said he was delighted the campaign had been a success.
“The problem is they are a bit tucked away,” he said.
“I have been nagging and pleading with the county council for eight years to get them a sign. This blindingly obvious need should not have gone unaddressed for so long.
“I am delighted the district council’s pragmatism has enabled a solution to be found and a sign has now gone up.
“Businesses like Vale Pianos are good for the area. It should not have taken so long but justice has been done.”
