A REVAMP at a community centre in Pershore has revealed a mediaeval wall painting.
Work at St Andrew’s parish centre exposed more than anyone expected when a historic painting was uncovered.
Judy Dale, churchwarden, said: “We discovered a small patch of the painting and we are also displaying an Anglo-Saxon sculpture.”
The revamp was made possible by hard work by volunteers and funding from Worcestershire County Council, which provided a grant of £23,500.
The money was spent on improved heating, new electrics, improved lighting, screen wall repairs, new flooring, plaster removal and repair and new storage facilities.
With the work nearly complete, the parish centre wants to encourage more people from the community to use the facilities.
