A Worcester couple confirmed their love for each other by putting it on ice when they got engaged.

The magical moment for Sean Vernall and Sammy Chambers happened during a public skating session at Ice Quest in Spring Lane North, Malvern.

Mr Vernall made the romantic gesture after the ice rink played the couple’s favourite Rihanna song We Found Love. He got down on one knee to pop the all-important question.

Miss Chambers accepted immediately with tears in her eyes.

Mr Vernall said he was nervous but everything had gone to plan and the rink’s staff had been really helpful in setting it up.

“I thought it would be different, I don’t know anyone else who has done that. I was trying to be as romantic as possible.”

Ice Quest manager Mark Sunter said: “This has been our first wedding proposal on the ice rink and it was a very romantic occasion to witness, customers really enjoyed the event.

“The owners and staff at Ice Quest wish them all the happiness for the future.”

The happy couple, who are both 26 and live in St Peter’s, were presented with red roses and pink champagne.
