A WOMAN has died and two other people have been injured in a crash near Kidderminster.

The woman, one of of three people in a car, was confirmed dead at the scene following the crash on the A449 at Cookley at 1.20am today.

A paramedic area support officer in a rapid response vehicle, the West Midlands CARE team and two ambulance crews attended.

The West Midlands Central Accident Resuscitation & Emergency (CARE) team is a group of approx 60 volunteer doctors and nurses who provide a medical team in support of West Midlands Ambulance Service.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “There had been three people in the car one of whom, a woman, was confirmed dead at the scene.

“Another man, in his twenties, had numerous injuries including a suspected fractured pelvis and broken leg. A neck collar, pelvic bind and traction device were all applied and he was placed on a scoop stretcher and given pain relief before being taken by land ambulance, accompanied by the CARE team doctor to the major trauma centre at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

“A man in his twenties had minor injuries including facial injuries. He was immobilised with the use of a spinal board and neck collar and was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.”
