A TALENTED Worcestershire teenager’s debut single also doubles as a national charity’s first-ever Christmas single.

Lauren Alexandra, of Bewdley, has pledged all profits from the sale of her cover of American country singer Faith Hill’s Where Are You Christmas to Heart Research UK.

The song originally featured in the festive film How The Grinch Stole Christmas in 2000. The song’s lyrics reflect on how Christmastime can change.

The 15-year-old, who attends Bewdley School and Sixth Form Centre, said: “It’s such an emotive time of year. Whether people, places or just the childhood magic of Christmas changes, the song serves to remind us that with love in our hearts and minds, this time of year can still remain special. “So many people have all come together to make this happen in such a short space of time. I’m absolutely thrilled to be able to release my first-ever single in support of Heart Research UK.”

Lauren will perform her single at the Birmingham Conservatoire tomorrow as the grand finale of the charity’s sixth national Sing For Your Heart week, following shows in Sutton Coldfield and Solihull on Saturday and Sunday. Barbara Harpham, national director for Heart Research UK, said: “All the money raised here will be spent in the Midlands.

“Already, Heart Research UK has spent more than £500,000 on projects at local universities and hospitals across the region and we will be helping the Birmingham Children’s Hospital with a monitoring system for babies born with heart problems.”
