Bikers in charity ride for children
6:40pm Monday 17th December 2012 in News
BIKE RIDE: Mick Worrall, centre, and the Charity Chicken Run Group bring gifts to Acorns Children’s Hospice for Christmas.
A CHARITY ride by a group of bikers, including an 81-year-old first timer, raised nearly £1,000 for Acorns Children’s Hospice.
The Charity Chicken Run took place on Sunday, December 2, from the Bay Horse pub in Hartlebury Road, Stourport, and brewery Marston’s matched the £484 raised.
The bikers brought gifts and donations for the children’s Christmas party at Acorns in Worcester and vouchers for presents.
Organiser Mick ‘Chicken’ Worrall said: “We started these runs four years ago, when we heard of the wonderful work at Acorns.
“This is the most we have ever raised."
Pub licensee Tania Jones, whose father Don, aged 81, rode for the first time on the back of Mick’s trike, said: “It was a brilliant day. He raised £325.
“It’s given him a new lease of life – he is still on Cloud Nine.”
