FOUR search and rescue teams were called after two canoes were reported to be getting into difficulty in Upton-upon-Severn.

A concerned member of the public called the fire brigade after seeing the kayaks in fast-flowing water on the river Severn, near Hanley Road today.

Two search teams from the fire service, a team from SARA and one from West Midlands Search and Rescue Service scoured the river for over two hours but found no sign of the boats.
